Update about new animators on the staff

As you probably know, we lost one of our animators a few months ago, and we’ve had to go to two animations per month since then. I apologize for how long the hiring process has taken, but it’s been a hectic last few months, and I wanted to make sure we got someone good.

The good news is not only did we hired someone, we hired two new animators! They both started last week. However, we aren’t going back to three animations per month right away for a couple of reasons. First, I want to make sure that both of the new hires work out. You never know if there will be problems, and they aren’t the right person for the job.

The other reason is that we really need to get our “Content Buffer” built back up. This buffer is content that’s completed ahead of time. Back at our peak last summer and early fall, we were three to four finished animations ahead, and 12 to 20 comic pages ahead. Recently, we’ve been getting by on just making deadlines. This content buffer is so we are prepared for various setbacks like people getting sick, vacations, unexpected problems, and so on. It guarantees everything comes out right on time, and we don’t need to go into a massive crunch if something sets us back.

Thank you again for your patience on this. I hope to introduce everyone on the staff after we know the new people are going to work out. We’re now up to six people now, including myself. Three of the six are still here from when I introduced the team last year; Jeremy, Mimi, and I.

On last thing, I wanted to congratulate Mimi on her one year anniversary of starting here, as well as her recent promotion to Lead Animator!
