SF Waifu Tournament!

By | February 22, 2021

Are you ready for March Madness! No, I don’t mean boring old basketball! This March you’ll be able to participate in the Sapphire Foxx Waifu Tournament!

How it works:

36 Sapphire Foxx characters will face off in a tournament of daily match-ups from February 25 to March 31. Fans will be able to vote in the daily match for which waifu they want to advance to the next round. The loser of each poll will be eliminated from the tournament. You get to decide who will be crowned as the ultimate Sapphire Foxx Waifu!

Bracket:

How to vote:

Each poll will begin at 11:00 AM Eastern Time (the same time the comic pages come out). Each poll will last for 24 hours.

There will be links to the current poll on the sidebar of the website, and there will be links on the bottom of each day’s comic page. You can also check the results of the previous day’s poll while voting.

Tournament Schedule

  • Qualifiers: February 25 to February 28.
  • Round One: March 1 to March 16.
  • Round Two: March 17 to March 24.
  • Quarter Finals: March 24 to March 28.
  • Semi Finals: March 29 to March 30.
  • Finals: March 31.

Qualifiers?

Similar characters from the same series will face off in qualifying matches to see which will waifu will earn a place in the tournament. This is to reduce redundancies and to give more representation to our various animations and comics. Each qualifier has a predetermined seed. The Qualifiers will run from February 25 to February 28 in this order:

  • New York Qualifier: Caroline V Brooke. Winner will be fifth seed in the East
  • Seattle Qualifier: Jessica V Christina. Winner will be twelfth seed in the West
  • Mysteria Qualifier: Leena V Nikki. Winner will be fourth seed in the West
  • Maine Qualifier: Zoey V Gaela. Winner will be second seed in the East

Beyond

Both the regular and Beyond sites will have their own polling. Because the polling will be separate, it’s very likely we’re going to see two different brackets unfold on each site, with potentially a different champion on each site.

Prizes

The Champion will be earning a grand prize, with semi-finalists each earning additional prizes. These prizes will be kept secret until after the tournament, so that they won’t influence voting. The Champion and final four on the Beyond site will have their own rewards as well.

That’s all! I hope you’re all looking forward to this Waifu Madness as much as I am. Tune in on February 25th when the tournament begins!

I think some of the results are B.S.

“BS” would be if someone who lost the vote went to the next round anyway. That hasn’t happened and isn’t going to happen. There’s no “BS” here. It’s all based off of the way the fanbase votes. Just because you voted for someone who didn’t win their match because they didn’t get enough votes doesn’t mean that there’s any “BS” at play. That’s like saying any time your favorite sports team loses a game is “BS.”

Those are their seeds, just like in any standard tournament bracket. They’re ranked 1 through 16, with 1s being the best. The higher your seed, the easier your path is to the finals.

If you’ve ever watched the NCAA basketball tournament (aka March Madness), then this functions exactly like that tournament. Then again, if you’ve watched any tournament, then this functions just like any of them.

I wouldn’t necessarily say the higher rank you are, the easier it is to win it. If anything making it, avoiding the play-in games, are the two biggest advantages outside of the talent pool.

It’s a fact that the higher your seeding, the easier your path is to victory. The path of a one-seed is always easier than the path of a twelve-seed. Assuming that the higher seed always wins in each match up, the one-seeds would face the lowest remaining seed in each match, thus an easier path to victory.

That’s how literally any tournament with seeding works.

is the vote for the left or the right. Because i’m picking Izzy

That’s not how this tournament works. Isabelle would only face Holly in the first round, not everyone on the left side.

No Rosa? 🙁

Only so many girls could be in this tournament. To fit Rosa in, someone else would have not make the tournament. And girls from comics and animation series are definitely more important to include than girls from one-shots. To be honest, I think the most important one-shot girls were included – Andi, Ariana, Erica and Mary.

IDR who Rosa is off the top of my head but I do have to question Lara’s entry. First, the story isn’t close to being concluded. Second, at this point in the story, Lara is basically a fabrication; she’s not real. Third, if I remember right no magic is involved in this story so technically Lara is still a guy who wants to be a guy who wants to put this character in the rearview mirror. Granted that could change as some minor evidence is emerging… Basically, I think it’s too early to put Lara in a waifu battle. Just… Read more »

Rosa was the female persona that the guy transformed into in Backstage Pass. Also, if you’re gonna do a tournament like this, you’ve gotta include the main female leads in each of the seven comics. Regardless of how you feel about Lara, she had to be in this tournament. It wouldn’t be fair to not include her. For your first point, there are several girls in this tournament that are from series that aren’t finished. Hannah, Leanna, Jazmin, Kelly, even Alyssa’s series isn’t finished yet. By your logic, none of them should be here either. If Lara can’t make it… Read more »

My main point was basically that Lara still really hasn’t been fully fleshed out as a character yet. Most of the other characters have had time to develop more. That and she has an unfair advantage of being front and center daily. If this tournament is just about looks then I suppose it doesn’t matter as much though I took it to be best girl wins. In the end, I suppose it doesn’t matter much it’s just a fun thing to do.

There are plenty of girls on here who are not fully fleshed out. Lara isn’t the only one on here. Leanna and Kelly has only just arrived, Hannah hasn’t fully come in to her own yet, Jazmin is still trying to figure out who she is, and Alyssa is constantly changing. Why specifically mention Lara when all of those girls have it just as bad? Also, it is entirely possible for some to say if someone is the best girl even if their story isn’t finished. Look at any ongoing anime. My Hero Academia isn’t finished, yet people are constantly… Read more »
