November 8th, 2014: Under 200 Pounds

By | November 8, 2014

I wish I had more interesting things going on in my life to do these more often. 😉

My three months of dieting and exercising are really paying off. Since all the way back to 8th grade, I’ve weighted around 225. Now for the first time in a long, long time, I now weigh under 200! =D

The annoying thing about losing weight is that your gut is the last thing to start shrinking. You lose it everywhere else first, like your arms, legs, back, ect. Now my big gut is finally shriveling away, and I practically look thinner by the week.

For someone of my height, I need to be under 183 to be considered not overweight anymore (I think 218 or so was obese). At the rate I’m going, I hope to hit that in a few months. My final goal is to get around 170 or so.

Some More Weight Loss Advice

For people trying to lose some pounds themselves, I gave some advice in my last update, and I’ll give some more now. I find the best type of cardio for burning calories is to walk 2.5 to 3.0 MPH on a high incline setting. I can’t go jogging, or do intermittent sprints for 30 to 45 minutes straight, but I can walk uphill for that long just fine. The higher the incline, the better (I like 15% incline, but that’s too much for some people).

Another bit of advice is this: it’s much easier to not eat 300 calories than it is to burn off 300 calories. It’s true. Would you rather not eat a candy bar, or go on the treadmill for 30 minutes to burn it off? Resisting temptation is your best tool.

It’s so nice to feel light, and more healthy. Sometimes I pick up a 25 pound weight and think “Man, I was carrying this thing around all the time.” I’m making progress in the gym, and running a little more and faster all the time. Hopefully I’ll hit my target weight soon, and keep the fat off in the future.

So for the other 95% of the world that don’t use the Imperial system:
225 lbs = 102kg
170 lbs = 77kg

You’re welcome ! 😀

And Sam, you made me curious. What’s your height then?

Way to go, Sam. Another piece of advice… Think target heart rate (~ 60-70% of max heart rate – Max HR = 220-age) It’s the fat burning zone. You’d be surprised how easy it is to hit it and keep it going. I bought a cardio monitor so that I could check on my walks. Pretty cheap way to keep on trucking. Glad to see your diet is working so well. Take care and,
