I thought they were making too much of a big deal of Cynthel not wanting to reveal her real name. I play plenty of MMOs and I’ve never told anyone my real name. Online privacy is the smart way to go sometimes. You never know what strange people are playing with you, nevermind the evil overlord this game has.

Also didn’t want to believe Cynthel was evil, cause she’s pretty much the exact character I would’ve made if I got to play AOA ?

Agreed.

Though I think the difference with AOA is that the kind of anonymity the game offers is a different type than other MMO’s offer, because you’re essentially actually there with these other people, rather than just text chatting with them through the game client. Perhaps that environment would lend itself to more openness. It might feel weird to have face-to-face conversations with someone who you don’t know as anything other than a username.

In a game like this however I could easily see myself not wanting to share anything. Not because of the \”privacy issue\” but because I am physically a different person in a different world and would want to immerse myself… Read more »
