It could be possible that knowing they swapped places would cause the mother to treat him (her?) more like she would treat the “real” Lindsey. Then the experiment would lose value, since it isn’t a realistic impression on how their mum treats Lindsey differently than Hunter.
So I think he will keep it a secret until they made the decision
