In preparation for the game, Hunter refers to it as the Team’s locker room and the only team referenced in the story is the boys’ basketball team. So that is my assumption.
Since the locker is open, Hunter then is keeping his women’s clothing in the guys’ locker room. That is a little dangerous to risk being called a cross dresser by teammates.
Another interesting comment I think on page 477 is Lindsay went into the locker room as a female to see if it is empty. That seems a little daring.
