I havn’t thought about it, but you are not wrong there.
All people around them have started to act a bit more… enthusiastic… when people swap, so…

If mass memory alter makes the best friends into lovers after a swap most of the time and the stones would be created by Alistair to make the process less shocking for them, then you would expect them to work in a similar way, right?

So it would make sense for the stones to alter the memories of the effected people in a similar pattern
