Just so y’all know…200 meters is quite a way down. It’s roughly 650 feet. I know this by calculating that 2 meters is slightly 6.5 feet (used to cut steel rods to 2m lengths for temp work while in college for a builder). To provide some perspective, 650 feet is about 150 feet short of the Golden Gate Bridge (above water), or 1.5x taller than the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Having an elevator that deep is pretty significant.
It certainly helps explain why it’s several dozen degrees warmer, and why the ship’s scanners weren’t able to detect this area.
