If the potential danger seems so quick, why aren’t they wearing 360deg. body cams? Then any attack would be recorded and instantly seen by the others. There seems to be no video capability whatsoever.

Centurion? I highly doubt that. He and Monkey are on the speeders. It seems unlikely that he would get attacked while going at fast speeds. Even if he did, Monkey can quickly help him out.
It seems far more likely that Rookie will be the first to get attacked by that alien.

Well to be fair, they have been led to believe that, aside from the investigation commission, there is nobody on this planet, and all of their scans back that claim up. So from their perspective, there shouldn’t be any harm in splitting the team up further if there’s nothing out there that can hurt them.
Now we know there is something out there, but this only makes this alien more dangerous. It means that it doesn’t show up as a “bio sign” on their scanners and could easily avoid detection.
