In guessing all the ghosts used to be men but their spirits take the form of their true selves. After all of the nurse is from the time of the plague based on that mask it would have more likely been a man Wearing it as a Plague doctor. She probably still hid behind it remembering hiding behind it as the man she didnt want to be since they said they all died before they were cured of their curses.

Yes the nurse did hide a metaphor behind that mask. I hope they get to see each other again in the afterlife. Lesbian (or bi) ghosts for the win.

Are we sure she’s legally old enough to be a nurse. Or was there 18 year old nurses in 1918?

yes there was because WW1 was 1914-1918. a lot of women back then would have been nurses

also she said she died from plague . so i’m thinking she died back in the great plague (The black death) back in the year 1348ad. but i could be wrong

Or in 1350

Sounds like the Black Plague started in 1350, which means the nurse is just a few decades shy of being 700 years old. And she doesn’t look a day over 200.

Also, she’s a ghost, so the age of consent doesn’t apply to her. The laws and rules of us mortals mean absolutely nothing to a creature that’s already dead.

Most people were lucky if they lived past 40 in the 1300’s.
Not to mention that the Black Death killed millions and doctors were likely scraping the barrel on nurses.

Where have you been? Been searching all along
Came facing twilight on and on, without a clue
Without a sign, without grasping yet
The real question to be asked, where have I been?

I’m a shape-shifter at Poe’s masquerade
Hiding both face and mind, all free for you to draw
I’m a shape-shifter. What else should I be?
Please don’t take off my mask, revealing dark.
