Just had this thought: if the disease is caused by the curses leaking out, why is it turning men into women but the women into hyper-sexualized versions of themselves? Don’t the curses just swap the sex of whoever they affect? Why aren’t the women turning into men instead?
Hmm let’s think. Who do we know that wants to infect the world of mortals do that they can’t breed themselves into extinction by making men into women and women appear more seductive to lure them into that state of being AND has a penchant for the DISTINCT color of *RED*? Hmmmm nope nothing comes to mind!!
Yeah, I get that, but it’s not how the curse works for whatever reason. It changed women into men as well, even when it was first set in The King’s Heirs.
My guess is that mixing with water and flowing down a several-dozen-mile cave, with who-knows-what contaminants in the rocks, has dramatically altered the properties of the curse. I mean, the original curse also doesn’t make people violently ill before transforming them, nor does it spread like a virus.
The fact that it doesn’t turn women into men is quite understandable, with all those other changes in mind.
Another major change brought on by the curse being contaminated is that it now turns victims into their ideal woman, rather than turning them into their opposite-gender self.
That’s true. I wonder, if after Zoey/Zack, Sandra/Shane and Natalie/Nathan are cured, but then choose to go back to being Zoey, Sandra and Natalie, will they be ideal women Zoey, Sandra and Natalie or opposite-gender selves Zoey, Sandra and Natalie?
