sorry, but they are all a little slow if it has just accorded to them the red pool and moose are the souce of the virus.
They don’t know everything we know, so it isn’t fair to say they’re slow. Before today, they had no reason to believe that the pond water started the virus. Back then, they thought it was red because of clay deposits and that makes sense. They were also so focused on living with the virus that they never stopped to think about how it started. I don’t blame them for that.
Why? They ran across a moose at a red pool, and then several hours later Zack started changing into a woman. What reason would they have to connect those dots?

It’s not so much that we know that the pond water is the source of the virus, but that our main characters just discovered that. Now that they know, they could potentially do something about it.
