i wonder how shocked and surprised Zoey and heather will be when they get back to the cabin to meet their 2 nd. mom and their little sister.
Naturally they be devastated but I hope they still support each other as a family
I like Elaine comfort her new daughter Patricia
me too that Elaine is one great person.
Shouldn’t she be wearing a mask.
I have a theory, what if these characters are somehow related to Isabella,I’m only saying this because patricas eyes are blue and the only people in the series I’ve seen who had blue eyes was Isabella and her family…
I think Zoey and Gavin will walk right into this.
I wonder what Randy’s new face will look like and what her girl name will be.
5 days till Page 300.
Dying to see Randy’s mustache go away. Love the dress and heels.
Patricia looks so cute but I’m so sad for him.. or her.. I really am..
Shame on the shameless anti-vaxxers couple of being close-minded
People who were considered to be transgender back in the 90s were called transsexuals. If you did see one, it was on a talk show like Jerry Springer or Ricki Lake and they were described as boys who think they are girls.
This may not be popular with MTF fantasy fans, but why aren’t any of the infected males even *contemplating* being FTM transgender individuals. Aren’t they truly males trapped in women’s bodies? I know some will say “well, the virus changes them and they become more feminine and comfortable as females.” But the first thing I think I’d tell a boy suddenly turned into a girl is that he doesn’t have to change his gender identity. He can remain being a boy, even with girl parts, and certainly can continue to wear masculine clothing. Having a mom tell a young boy… Read more »
If this comic were based in 2019 I would tend to agree with you (although I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was transphobic), but this is set in the 1990s and attitudes about gender identity were very different then.
Ok, I’ll grant you both that things were different in 1997. But it’s not like “gender dysphoria” or “gender identity disorder” (or other variants) weren’t known of back then. MTF and FTM individuals have existed for centuries, and “transsexuals” for decades. Acceptance was certainly less back then compared to now, but you’d think the mom here would’ve been a little more sympathetic to her son’s concerns nonetheless. Masculine-presenting girls have long been “tomboys”, well before 1997, and some were certainly transitioning their gender identity then too. Cinder Isle indeed is an odd (and interesting) place, so maybe we let this… Read more »
Being considered transgender wasn’t really a thing back in 1997, like it is now. As far as everyone in Cinder Isle is concerned, there can only be two genders – male and female. In the 90s, as far as the general public was concerned, there was no in-between. Hell, most of the world didn’t even know what “transgender” meant in 1997.
If this story were set in modern times, then I agree that it should be more accepting of transgender individuals. But it’s not, so we can’t expect this comic to have modern day sensibilities.
The first big transgender case was a transform in the 50s and the name was not as well known as today but the 90s was not that long a go I grew up in the 90s and I’m trans though I did not transition in the 90s it was not the worst decade for that and the bigger discrimination that would arise in the 90s is more fear about AIDS for that was a huge late 80s and early 90s thing so that answer does not work but you can say it’s for a story perspective but I do not… Read more »
