It seems very likely that it will happen as the last scene in Godmother referred to returning to Cinder Isle. This is in the past of that series. At some point the quarantine must have been lifted – unless mages are messing with memories and porting in and out. Nothing says they couldn’t be carriers.
Make sense Zoey would not change her style.
