because that would be stealing and the commission just might be keeping tabs on the merchandise inside that clothing store even though the owner of that store is missing at the moment . so i don’t think that the ladies wouldn’t take merchandise without giving the owner of that store payment for the clothes that they take from that store .
the context we are given says that they it is theirs for the taking and the sane people are going with it too so I guess it is free

There isn’t anyone alive anywhere in the entire colony. There’s no one TO pay. Those clothes are all just going to go to rot if they aren’t taken out of that abandoned store, anyway.
thanks for the info now my mind is at ease i just was wondering . now i can comment without worrying about how the ladies will pay for those clothes plus i don’t like to have those clothes going to waste . because when i wrote that comment i was thinking about how they were going to pay for those clothes if those colonist’s were ever found alive and the owners of that clothing store return to their store and find that there merchandise was taken without getting their hard earned cash for that merchandise .
