Doesn’t the Commander hear is own phrasing, when we fought, they started. Its more they declared the war cause hostilities already started and they thought making it official was a logical step to get it over with. This creature being able to change males into fertile females could be a godsend for the Zinarian species if they used it on volunteers of their survivors. But if they are using it to breed more of their race in all other species its not improbable given the creatures abilities.
Wait with so few females remaining, what if the researchers were converted. And seeing themselves as failures closed up shop and went home so they could still be the most useful they could be? Heck their research could have caused the hormone conspiracy theory mentioned to Rookie after her conversion.
Okay so my peacefull theory is that this Glumine was supposed to be the solution to the Zinarians problem with to few women. But the creatures own survival instinct worked against the reprogramming and the creature becomes overly active but not to just make females but make their own kids. Yes a lot of flaws in my theory but I don’t really care I just think this would be the peacefull explanation
