I curious and confused at the same time. I know Crossfire isn’t canon to the SF universe, but is it because it’s a media franchise in the SF universe?
The “media franchise” thing really was only because there was a snippet of Undercover Agent being shown in the TV of the Young family house during Matchmaker. That’s pretty much it.
So, I guess the answer is no, Crossfire is totally separate from the SF universe. Unless, a future canon story gives this comic a similar treatment as the scenario above.

Not sure who’s first, but if you look at the armor in the teaser, the captain changes at some point and becomes a redhead.
While I would guess that the Commander will get transformed at some point in this comic, I don’t think teaser image was supposed to be the Commander. It looked much more like Rookie, since he is already a redhead. Given that the Commander’s mustache is brown, if he were to get hair upon transforming, he would be turned into a brunette, not a redhead.
I get the impression that Rookie is supposed to be our main character, so it would make sense that Rookie was that redhead in the teaser image.
You could be right, but it was definitely the commander’s armor. Compare the color scheme.
Also, if you watched the prequel animation, the transformed character’s hair color changed some during the transformation.
Considering that teaser image was probably the first bit of artwork that they created for Crossfire and probably didn’t flesh out the colors of each character’s armor by that point, I wouldn’t invest any stock in that teaser image being the Commander simply because it’s his color scheme. To me, that means absolutely nothing. And no, Marco’s hair didn’t change colors. His hairstyle changed, but the color of his hair remained the same. It is extremely rare that Sapphirefoxx character’s hair changes color upon their gender transformation, so I would guess that the Commander will remain a brunette and Rookie… Read more »
I also found it funny that people couldn’t tell that female Marco is Marco. lol
And honestly, I think it’s funny that some people think that Marco and female Marco look the same. Because outside of the color of their skin, they have nothing in common appearance-wise. By your logic, Natalie Portman and Chris Evans must be the same person because they’re both white.
